Final Course Reflection


My overall experience in this classroom was very good. This class has really helped me out a lot. Even though, I knew most of the stuff that was taught, this class gave me a new aspect from which I can look at things and assignments. One thing this class has taught me is that technology is on the rise and it is very useful in the classroom. While in the classroom, research has shown that technology improves learning. Students pay attention more when technology is around because it’s more interactive and it’s better. This class was all about technology. Everything we did was related to technology. I learned a lot of new stuff especially about the Microsoft programs. I have learned about power points, Google docs, Google power points, turnitin.com, movie maker, and a lot of other great programs that I can use in my classroom.

            I feel as if all of these different wed tools and programs really provided me with a sense of foundation. I feel like I can go into the classroom and be prepared to teach. With all of these systems of technology I can allow my children to use power points and create movies about themselves. Technology would also make my class very enthusiastic. I learned about NETS-T standards and how they cater to technology. All of these assignments can be implemented into my future classroom, and they will help me out a lot. I believe that my weaknesses are being prompt about my work, not giving up easily, and being prepared. I really feel that if I be more prompted to do my work it will come out better. A lot of times I found myself stressed out because of the amount is work I have to do. However, if I be prompt about that work I believe it’ll get done a lot quicker. So, that will allow me not to give up so easily.

            Giving up easily isn’t a good characteristic, and I would like to get rid of it. I think these were my weak points because I have a tendency to be very lazy. So, if I don’t be lazy I can get a lot more accomplished. However, I do have some strong points. My strong points are being a hard worker and being diligent. I think these two characteristics are my strong pints because it gives me motivation to do my work. Without motivation I don’t know if I would do my work at all. My future learning goals is to definitely study harder and have a very strong endurance level. I also would like the quality of my work improve so, and I have already seen that happening. With these steps I know I can have a good classroom.

Assistive Technology (PowerPoint)

         This assignment was very essential to me because it helped me to learn some tools that I can use as a teacher. These poerpoint program was very easy to use, and it could be a real time saver when I graduate and become a teacher. I can make all kinds of note slides and send let the students review from it. The assignment consisted of making a powerpoint of assistive technology. I learned about alot of technolgy that I can use in the classroom. This was very useful, also. If I wanted to get them interactive in the classroom, I could allow them to use this site to create their own powerpoints and present them. This could also be used as a study tool for students. Also, the technology that I learned to used was very helpful because my future students can learn from it.
    
       The program was pretty simple if you took some time to understand the assignment fully. The good part about learning how to do a powerpoint is that I can actually use it for my future classroom. It'll be easy to organized things such as notes and lecture points. It will also cut down of the amount of papers I would have to keep and file. I didn't have alot of problems in doing this assignment. Thos assignment was by far the most helpful and the one with the less work and stress. I love putting powerpoints together, and I hope my students does to. In doing this assignmment I meet NETS-T standards on and five because I used technology in order to organize and connect with others.

Social, Ethical, and Legal Issues (Turnitin)

In this assignment, I learned a lot of essential information. Doing this assignment wasn't neccessarily fun, but it allowed me to gain a lot of insight. This assignment was about gender bias. I got my original information from various of websites. However, when I revised the assignment, I changed a lot of stuff. At first we had to look up a lot of information and just copy and paste it. However, we had to revise that information and put it into our words. This assignment can be used in many different ways in the classroom. One way it can be used is to keep students from cheating on assignments. Alot of students think they can get away plagarism and teachers not know it. This is a good way to catch students. Also, they can use it as a spell check. Once you insert your paper onT, they give you a grademark. The grademark section tells you any grammar and spelling error. This way students can edit their paper before finally turnin it in. This tool is really good in many ways.
            Turnitin.com provides a lot of service. One of the things I learned from doing this assignment is that if a student really cheated or even attemted to, this website would catch it. I can also use this for my assignments and projects. I can make sure that my assignments are not plagarised. This is a way for me to check my spelling and punctuation. I had a lot of problems with this assignment because it was not self-explanatory. Finding information on the A lot of the questions had no distinct answer. The assignment itself wasn't hard finding the information was hard.  However, I searched hard and eventually found the answers. I used standard one because this assignment allowed me to explore web tools and programs.

Web site (GoogleSites)


This assignment was awesome. I had the opportunity to create my own teacher’s website. At first, I didn’t think this assignment could help me or be useful to my future career. However, I quickly learned that a lot of the information I learned from this website can be used in my classroom for my future students. While doing this assignment, I had the opportunity to really make my own rubric and syllables. I got a chance to act like I was a real teacher giving my students real assignments so; I really put some hard work into this assignment.

I choose to teach the subjects of math and science. The reason I choose this topic is because I love those two subjects and that’s the two subjects I am getting my endorsements in. This assignment can be used in many different ways in the classroom. One way it can be used is just by having my future students create their own website. They could use that as a studying tool or as a networking tool. Also, I can use this websites to post grades in a discrete way or to network with parents on the progress and behaviors that their children exemplify in the classroom. This tool is really good for teachers because they can upload all assignments for the year.

I had some problems with this assignment because it was a lot of stuff that we had to incorporate into this assignment. It was a lot of work to do and very tedious. Making up things was hard for me also because I actually incorporated real online websites that the students could click on and do work. However, I asked others in my class to help and also read the instructions a lot. The NETS-T standard I used for this assignment was one and three because I used different technology from the web to be creative in teaching future students.

Movie Story

In this assignment I learned a lot. Making a movie of my life was so much fun. I choose to make a movie of my college life from freshman year up until now. I got my pictures from various places. The reason I choose this topic because it is easy to tell and show things about my life because I know my life. This assignment can be used in many different ways in the classroom. One way it can be used is just by having my future students create a movie on some of the lessons we have learned. They could use that as a studying tool. Also, they can create a movie about different things read in the classroom. This tool is a real time saver. This can be used in place of a PowerPoint although it can’t go into dept. like a PowerPoint can.
           
            This is a fun way to get the kids involved and relate different things learn in the classroom to their lives. One of the things I learned from doing this assignment is that if a student really liked movies or watching television this is one of the ways to keep them actively involved. I really did not have any problems with this assignment because it was self-explanatory. The navigation of the program, however, was pretty difficult. A lot of things that we had to put into the movie maker were hard to find. The buttons with titles and subtitles was kind of confusing also. However, I asked others in my class to help and also asked my professor. I used standard two because this assignment allowed me to design and develop digital pictures and experiences.

GoogleGroups and Google Drive

I had a really great group. I was the group leader. For the first assignment we completed we choose to do chapters 5,6,7,8, and 11. We let everyone choose their own chapters. This assignment asked us to explore different chapters from the book and ask our other group members questions about it. My group members had some really great questions. We got it in on time and everyone worked hard on replying to each others questions. I learneed alot from doing this part of the assignment. This part required us to feed off of each other and to work as a group. With my future students, I can use this assignment not only for a team builder assignment but also to teach them how to blog and respond with edcated post. They can are peer editing each other on an assignment. It also allows them to really read material and understand it in order to come up with questions about the topic.
Also, we had another part of this assignment where we had to create a story as a group. This can also be good for my future students to conduct group. In this story there had to be an initiator, people to write the body and a person to write the ending. Feeding off of each other is really good for students because it allows them to express themselves in different types of ways. Our story was really good. It involved a boy with a secret. The last part of the assignment required us to do an individual powerpoint on our own individual chapters. This also allows for the material to be fully read and analyzed. This could be a way to test my future student's knowledge instead of just testing them on pencil and paper.
I really didn't have too many problem doing thos assignment. My group was great. The only slight problem was understanding the chapters and coming up with good questions. In order, to solve this problem I just read the chapter again with more in dept reading. The NETS-T standard that was covered was one because I think I used technology to be creative and design things.

Web tools (Storybird, Wordle, Rubric, and Trackstar)

      
This assignment was very essential to me because it help me to learn some tools that I can use as a teacher. These web tools were very easy to use, and they could be a real time saver when I graduate and become a teacher. The assignment consisted of making web tools such as Storybird, Wordle, Rubric, and Trackstar. All of these tools are very useful. In each of these programs I learned something different. In the Storybird program, I learned how to create stories for my future students. Also, if I wanted to get them interactive in the classroom, I could allow them to use this site to create their own stories. This could also be used as a virtual book that I want my students to read.

In the Wordle program, I can create all types of visual for my future students to use. This can be used as reviews for them to each lesson that we cover. I learned a lot that I can do with this website. This website basically makes visuals easier to read and comprehend. They are also very fun to look at. The Rubric and Trackstar assignments allowed me to learn a lot also. I use the rubric website in other classes because it is a big help. When I need rubrics and things for my future classroom on certain assignments this would be a great sight to use, and it is a time saver. The Trackstar assignment can be used in my future classroom because I can give my students homework and study tips online.

All of these websites helped me. I learned that it is a lot of programs that is free and easy on the web that can really help teachers save time and be productive. I really didn’t encounter many problems. The problem I encountered when doing this assignment was getting all of it done before the deadline and transitioning from one project to another one. I just worked diligently and hard to get the project in on time, and if I had trouble with transitioning and figuring out each one, I asked a classmate and referred to the rubric. The NETS-T standard I used for this assignment was 1 and 3 because I used different technology from the web to be creative in teaching future students. Here is my work:

Math Concept Map

I was given the assignment of constructing a concept map on any topic I picked.The topic I picked was Math. The reason I chose this topic was because I love math and my math is my personal favorite subject in school. I also figured that I could get alot of subtopics from the main topic being math. Math is also very interesting topic. It has alot information that can be organized in a concept map. In doing this assignment I learned alot of things. The primary thing I learned is how to construct a concept map. This can be very helpful to me as a futue teacher. I learned easy ways to do things and helpful tips that I can use on the computer. Some of the problems I encountered was not saving my work and having  to start over, not knowing all of the things I could do on the program we were working under, and having trouble with picking a good but effective topic. When I forst started this assignment, I didn't know how to work the program that we were to create our concept map with. It took a littler time to get adjusted. It also took a little time for me to figure out exactly what I was suppose to doing and get started. The program was pretty simplw if you took some time to understand the assignment fully. Introduction Blog

Hello, my name is Kierra Garner. I am majoring in Elementary education, and this is my Sophmore year. I am 19 years old and I want to get an endorsement in Mathematics. I have been wanting to teach for a very long time, and I think I would really enjoy it. I love children and I think I interact great with them.
